summer blog 1

It all started when I was sitting down sipping a cup of tea watching a documentary talking about tribes and their territories, as I was watching I remembered okonkwo in things fall apart and how he would be classified as a tribesman. I kept admiring and thinking about his character and eventually I wrote a poem about him that describes his life and his character as a whole. here is the poem that i wrote.

You think you know me
You think you've seen me
For I am a hero with my own might
And I am a savior in my own right
I was ruled by fame
And okonkwo I became
They say I'm a specialist
But In reality I'm nothing but a perfectionist
My father was weak
But here I am at my peek
Ruled by pride
As if it was my bride
The problem is everyone has pride
Its something you are born with deep inside
No matter what you do
It’s always going to be there in you
Perhaps I should've put my ego aside
Perhaps I should've swallowed my own pride
Let me tell you about myself
I’m a man full of himself
I’m here to dominate
Not here to debate
I was known in many villages
Portrayed in different images
I’m a man ready fight
To secure my right
No one dares to step in my way
Because they’re going to see a nasty display
I know that I killed that child
That’s why I got exiled
It was time to revisit the tribe
And let the people rail and gibe
Everyone surrendered
As if they weren’t tempered
I tried to attack
But no one covered my back
I tried and tried
To restore our pride
Everyone bailed
Therefore I failed
I became weak
Therefore I'm no longer unique.
I was known for my achievements
Getting  different treatments
But know I’m viewed as a disgrace
That doesn’t belong to this place
Why should I live?
If I’m not going to forgive
