letter to the editor

response to the editor
Throughout the recent years and decade it was well known that technology had a severe impact on our language, an example of that would be text-language. text- speak had a huge impact on how language is being portrayed as text-speak is being used by both adults and youth, looking at statistics it mainly shown that adults are the main people who use the language of text-speak.although it could be argued that it isn’t a new way of language it only a new form of communication.

Taking a look at the article “Twtr? its majorly bad!” it could be recognised that there has been a certain impact on the use of language. The language used in school work, school projects, interviews, media (news), memoirs and other types of communication could be disturbed and affected due to the language usage in the social media (twitter) there has been some slang found alongside with deleting some letter in words might affect the layout of your work. Throughout the use of abbreviation and some slang in theses types of social media (ex:- twitter) it could lead to affect people’s usage of words on a daily basis for example “omg!,lol and words like u instead of you and ur instead of you’re), this might lead to disturb a person’s way of interpreting and using language in inappropriate situations. It could be stated that using such a dialect might impact and affect it. Although if we think about it to actually remove the excess letters to make it easier to type in. You actually need to know the excess letters you are removing. Taking a look at what the the headmistress seems to be doubting is that she wont be able to accept is that despite this affect the usage of standard english had become stronger and stronger due to this concept. This didn't happen recently it could be argued that over certain time periods there had been a change in language and thus leading to change the concept of standard english. It is noticed that from the past there had been a change in the of standardised english thus making them interpret this as a variation of english. In my opinion I believe that this type of language text-speak should be considered as its own type of language descending from language, since it represents and interprets a way of communication, so in my opinion once again I strongly believe that text speak is a certain type of language.
